ETSU’s basketball team is gearing up for the new season with a largely new roster, featuring only three returning players. Coach Brooke Savage acknowledged the challenges of the current “NIL transfer portal era,” emphasizing the importance of building team chemistry.
“Even more so now, since we have 12 new guys just getting to know one another off the floor but also on the floor,” Savage said. “I think it really helps chemistry that we have 15 guys that really care about winning.”
Guard Jaylen Smith noted, “We did a lot in this time. We were prepared in the summer, so it’s the same exact thing from how it was previously.”
The team is set to open the season in just over a month.
