Considering all the controversy surrounding the proposed new arena for the Spurs, no one would blame you if you missed the fact that Media Day was scheduled for today.
It comes one day before the team opens up training camp, with the big news going in, that Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama has been cleared to return, and is now fully healed from the blood clot in his right shoulder that cost him the last two months of last season.
Unfortunately, Spurs point guard De’Aaron Fox told the media he does not expect to be ready to play by the regular season opener.
The pre-season opener is set for October 8th against Miami. The regular season opens on October 22nd against Dallas.
This will be new coach Mitch Johnson’s first full season at the helm. He took over for Greg Popovich when he left the club after health issues popped up early last season. He was officially named the team’s new coach in May.
The Spurs selected Dylan Harper with the second overall pick and Carter Bryant with the 14th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
