NBA legend Eddie Johnson believes Scoot Henderson is struggling with injury, partly due to a long-standing practice among NBA teams.

Scoot Henderson is a star who has struggled to make his mark since arriving in the NBA. The Portland Trail Blazers youngster entered the league with a lot of hype.

Entering #3 in the 2023 NBA Draft behind Victor Wembanyama and Brandon Miller, many expected him to be an instant success after his successful G-League Ignite stint.

However, his rookie season didn’t pan out well. And while he played well while coming off the bench last season, it still wasn’t enough to win people over to his side again.

Many felt that Henderson would thrive with Jrue Holiday and Damian Lillard next season. But his latest setback has caused people to ask questions, not just of him, but of the NBA as a whole.

The Portland Trail Blazers revealed that Scoot Henderson suffered a hamstring injury during team training, which will rule him out for 4-8 weeks.

Former NBA star Eddie Johnson questioned what personal coaches are doing during practices that is causing players to get injured so frequently.

“What are these workout coaches putting our players through in these workouts? The game is the most important. 18 years and I never injured myself one time, and my workouts made you wanna puke!”

Johnson is fair to ask questions of the training methods, considering this injury came during a pre-season workout that Henderson personally set up.

Personal trainers are a part of every NBA star’s entourage, and their role is to keep the players physically ready for when the grind of the regular season begins.

Scoot Henderson integral to Trail Blazers plans next season

Hopefully, Scoot Henderson is able to return sooner rather than later, and be part of the Portland Trail Blazers’ start to the season.

Many believe Henderson can take a leap next season, as his experience in the league starts to shine through in his play.

Henderson could thrive playing alongside Yang Hansen, a pass-first center similar to Nikola Jokic, who can orchestrate the offense.

Whatever the case may be, Henderson has a lot to prove next season if he wants to eventually achieve his goals of becoming a star in the NBA.
