MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Bucks held their Media Day on Monday at Fiserv Forum with training camp set to open Tuesday.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is still in Greece because he has COVID-19. He talked to reporters by Zoom.
Antetokounmpo said he hopes to be in Milwaukee “in a few days.” He said he wants to test negative first and doesn’t want to put anyone at risk of getting sick.
When asked about national reports that he was open to a trade, Antetokounmpo said he does want to win another championship, but remains committed to Milwaukee.
“I believe in my teammates,” said Antetokounmpo. “I believe in the people around me. I believe in my teammates; I believe in the moves that we [the Bucks] make. We are young; hopefully, we can get on the same page.”
Bucks brass, from team Governor Wes Edens to General Manager Jon Horst to Head Coach Doc Rivers, all expressed the view that the Bucks want to remain contenders in an Eastern Conference that could be wide open after the injuries to Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum and Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton.
Giannis said he’s excited about the Bucks’ acquisition of Myles Turner and that he’ll always have a great relationship with former teammate Damian Lillard.
