Orlando Magic president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman said that the team is targeting opening night for guard Jalen Suggs to return. Weltman said that a return for backup big man Moe Wagner is “further away”.
Suggs suffered a left knee trochlea cartilage tear on January 25th in a win over the Detroit Pistons. He missed Orlando’s last 35 games of the regular season and the team’s first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics.
The Magic are expected to start Suggs in a new-look backcourt next to Desmond Bane, who the team acquired this offseason. Orlando is hopeful of getting Suggs into a preseason game, but won’t take any chances with one of their key players.
