INDIANAPOLIS — After a season in coaching, Kyle Guy is re-starting his playing career in his home state.
Per an NBA source, the Pacers plan to sign Guy — a former Lawrence Central High School star and Indiana’s Mr. Basketball in 2016 — to an Exhibit 10 contract and have him play for the Noblesville Boom, the franchise’s G League team. An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year minimum contract with no salary guarantee, but it allows teams to give salary bonuses for players to stick with their G League affiliates. For the 2025-26 season, those bonuses can go up to around $85,000.
Guy was a special assistant at Virginia, his alma mater, in the 2024-25 season, and he was hired to be an assistant at Nevada under head coach and former Indiana University star Steve Alford for the 2025-26 season. However, signing with the Pacers gets him back into professional basketball for the first time since 2024, when he played for Lenevo Tenerife in Spain.
Guy was a McDonald’s All-American at Lawrence Central and earned third-team All-America Honors and Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player Award in 2018-19, when he helped Virginia win the NCAA title. He was drafted by the Knicks in the second round in 2019, was immediately traded to the Kings and spent three years bouncing between the NBA and the G League with two-way and 10-day deals. He spent three years playing internationally in Spain and Greece before getting into coaching.
Guy gives the Boom a local draw as they debut their name and location. The Pacers’ G League team was formerly known as the Mad Ants and played in Fort Wayne through the 2022-23 season. The last two years they have been the Indiana Mad Ants and played home games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
