DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks are poised to select Cooper Flagg as the number one overall pick in the upcoming NBA draft this June, barring any unexpected trades. Flagg, an 18-year-old standout from Newport, has been showcasing his skills at the NBA Combine in Chicago, participating in drills and agility testing.

Flagg, who was named the Naismith Player of the Year, played a pivotal role in leading Duke University to the Final Four. His former AAU coach at Maine United, Andy Bedard, expressed confidence in Flagg’s future with the Mavericks.

“Dallas will be the perfect fit for Cooper,” said Bedard, a Maine basketball legend.
