One of the best traditions TV show and movie fanatics do is stay up until the middle of the night to watch some new content. In the streaming service era, most companies don’t drop their releases until it’s late. Sports fans will soon join them in that regard.

Netflix is set to release the ‘Starting 5’ season two on Oct. 16. The behind-the-scenes documentary spent an entire season recording the everyday lifestyle of NBA superstars. The streaming service got its money’s worth last season with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Gilgeous-Alexander is joined by Tyrese Haliburton, Kevin Durant, James Harden and Jaylen Brown. His episodes will be must-watch. He had one of the greatest individual seasons ever, which included an MVP, NBA Finals MVP and a championship ring.

It’ll be interesting to learn how Gilgeous-Alexander personally carried himself throughout the 2024-25 season. The Oklahoma City Thunder were one of the most dominant teams ever with a historic 68-14 record. A pair of Game 7 wins highlighted their playoff journey.

At 2025-26 training camp, Gilgeous-Alexander talked about the ‘Starting 5’ Netflix series. The new season recently dropped a trailer, with just under two weeks until the premiere date. Like an A-list Hollywood star on the red carpet, he gave a little tease.

“I haven’t seen it. I want to watch it with you guys and the rest of the world as a TV show,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “My parts, just to give the world a little inside of my day-to-day basis and my personality. I think some of the guys will be in it too. Just to see how we interact and stuff like that. Should be a good show. Should be fun.”

The show will be appointment viewing for Thunder fans. They will get a chance to relive their best season in franchise history through new lenses. Gilgeous-Alexander will detail what it was like to open the door to all-time greatness in just one season.

SGA said he hasn’t seen the “Starting 5’ Netflix series he stars in yet. Wants to watch it when it drops with the rest of the fans: “Just give the world a little inside of my day-to-day.” pic.twitter.com/ifV2I0EZm8
