The Philadelphia 76ers will head into the 2025-26 season looking to get back on the path of championship contention after a brief detour into the woods. The Sixers are coming off a 24-58 season in which injuries decimated the roster and ruined any chance they had at winning.

As the Sixers head into the new season, they are still talented as ever as they are led by an elite trio in the form of Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey along with a supporting cast bolstered by younger, versatile pieces.

With that being said, one has to wonder where they rank on the latest overall power rankings in the league ahead of the new season. Bleacher Report has the Sixers ranked No. 22 in the ranking:

The Philadelphia 76ers’ position is eerily similar to the Pelicans. Their upside is entirely tied to the health of a player who’s rarely been healthy.

In this case, it’s obviously Joel Embiid. And the fact that he and Paul George had offseason surgeries made it hard to imagine Philadelphia competing for a title.

Or least that was the case before media day.

Like Zion, Embiid showed up looking trimmer than usual. And if he, George and Tyrese Maxey are all upright in the spring, the Sixers could make a real playoff run in the injury-decimated East.

This Sixers team has a big chance in the upcoming season to make that deep run into the playoffs. As long as Embiid, George, and Maxey are out there, they are going to be a dangerous team to contend with. The regular season has to be used to build chemistry within the three due to them not being able to play much in the 2024-25 season. Either way, per usual, it will all come down to health for this group.
