ROSEMONT, IL – Nebraska men’s basketball was picked to finish 14th in the Big Ten in the preseason media poll released Wednesday.

The Huskers received 148 points in the vote organized by the Indianapolis Star and Columbus Dispatch. Purdue was voted to finish first, receiving 25 of 28 possible votes. Michigan got the other three.

The Huskers finished last season tied for 12th in the conference, tiebreakers bumping them out of the Big Ten tournament’s then-15-team field.

No Huskers were voted to the preseason all-conference teams in the unofficial or official poll, which came out Tuesday. Nebraska’s Reink Mast received two points in the unofficial poll. The official poll doesn’t rank teams.

Purdue point guard Braden Smith was voted preseason player of the year in both polls. He was the Big Ten player of the year in 2025.
