The Brooklyn Nets continued the preseason on Friday without the services of top pick Egor Demin as he continues to recover from plantar fascia tear in his right foot, but as the team got to work in China, it appears the No. 8 overall pick took a big step forward.

While Demin didn’t play in Brooklyn’s 132-127 overtime loss to the Phoenix Suns, it appears that he worked out with the team on Thursday. A picture posted by ClutchPoints’ Erik Slater shows Demin getting in some contact work which is a big step for the rookie going forward.

If Demin is getting contact work in, then it bodes well for a possible return for the Oct. 22 opener for the Nets when they take on the Charlotte Hornets.

Demin averaged 11.3 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 43.5% from deep in the Las Vegas summer league. The Nets would certainly like to see him on the floor sooner rather than later as the rebuild takes another step forward.
