The 2025-26 NBA season will see the Boston Celtics tip off shortly against their Eastern Conference rival, the Philadelphia 76ers, who are preparing to bring back one of the league’s legendary mascots, but the Celtics coaching staff is also keeping sharp on the court.

The Celtics have a tradition of using their final days before the NBA season starts to put on a relaxed exhibition game between their coaches and the media members who cover the franchise. While it may seem like a fun concept, though, those in the media faced a brutal beatdown this year after the Boston coaches displayed their skills.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla and Co. didn’t hold back on their opponents, posting a winning score of 57 to 4.

While Mazzulla never realized an NBA career of his own as a player, he was a talented college basketball star who helped lead the West Virginia Mountaineers to the Final Four in 2010. It just goes to show how difficult it can be to face higher-level competition.
