The Brooklyn Nets and the Toronto Raptors close out the 2025 NBA preseason tonight at Scotiabank Arena.

For Brooklyn, the future is certainly not now. This season they’ll roster five 2025 first-round picks, along with a deep stash of future picks — including at least three first-rounders per draft class through 2032.

The challenge: integrating all those young assets with veterans. The Nets haven’t shown a definitive formula yet in the preseason, and tonight’s game won’t settle it. Still, keep an eye on Egor Dëmin — the No. 8 pick in the 2025 draft — and how well he meshes with more established players like Michael Porter Jr., Nic Claxton, and Cam Thomas.

Porter Jr. provides a veteran presence, but his contract expires after 2026 and may be flipped at some point over the next two seasons.

Toronto, by contrast, enters with more immediate expectations. Their big move: acquiring Brandon Ingram to bolster the frontcourt. With a healthy core, the Raptors may have a shot at hovering around .500 and making the play-in tournament.

But Toronto’s offense could be a concern. Under head coach Darko Rajaković, the Raptors have struggled to build consistent spacing and efficient shot creation. Ingram, while talented, may clash stylistically with RJ Barrett and Scottie Barnes in terms of shot profile and floor spacing.
