The Boston Celtics have reportedly waived three players to get to the regular season roster limits of 18 total players, per recent reporting from Spotrac’s Keith Smith. With preseason and training camp now in the rearview mirror for the Celtics, it appears Boston plans to carry a total of 14 regular rostered players, and a full three-man cohort of two way players heading into the 2025-26 NBA regular season after parting ways with RJ Luis Jr, Aaron Scott and Hason Ward.
Luis, Scott, and Ward are all expected to sign with the Maine Red Claws to play in the G League for the Celtics’ developmental squad this season, according to Smith.
Ward and Scott signed with Boston earlier this week, while Luis had come to Boston in the trade that sent vet forward Georges Niang to the Utah Jazz at the start of the 2025 NBA offseason.
