The 2025-26 NBA season starts next week, and ahead of the Thunder’s first matchup on Oct. 21, Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt has proclaimed that day as “OKC Thunder Day.”
By encouraging residents to wear and display their Thunder spirit, Holt asks the Oklahoma City community to show their support to commemorate the city’s first-ever NBA Championship.

Oct. 21, which is Opening Night for the league, will feature the reigning NBA champions as they take on the Houston Rockets inside the Paycom Center.

The team will officially receive their championship rings, and a championship banner will also be unveiled the same night.
Before the Thunder’s Opening night matchup, the team will play its final NBA Preseason matchup against the Denver Nuggets on Friday.
