Here at the Celtics Wire, we are not especially big fans of Ranking Season, or the time of the NBA calendar that starts in the summer doldrums and used to end around the start of the regular season that has now grown into a full-season long phenomenon. To be clear, there is a lot of great work out there assessing the talent of the Boston Celtics and the league in engaging ways, but there is more slop thrown together with the intent to get clicks a higher priority than good analysis.
But over at our sister site of HoopsHype, the use of what is more or less a basketball meta-analysis to work up a more representative amalgamation of opinions about the state of the NBA has produced some quality rankings in our estimation. They have recently released an aggregate ranking of the league’s top 100 players, and Boston is surprisingly well-represented in what has become a retooling season.
Let’s take a look at who fell where in this exercise, with five Celtics having made the cut.
No. 95 – Anfernee SimonsNo. 80 – Payton PritchardNo. 53 – Jayson TatumNo. 36 – Derrick WhiteNo. 17 – Jaylen Brown
