While nothing is confirmed, things are sounding like star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown could be available to play for the Celtics’ Opening Night tilt against the Philadelphia 76ers. Boston coach Joe Mazzulla spoke to the media about the hamstring injury that Brown picked up in the final preseason contest of 2025-26 against the Toronto Raptors.
When asked how the Georgia native looked in practice on Monday (Oct. 20) morning, Mazzulla related that Brown “was able to do everything but the live stuff.” And while the Celtics coach was a bit coy as to whether he would play against the Sixers, he did share that it “was a day-to-day thing” that Brown was dealing with.

When the man himself was asked how he was feeling and whether he would be ready for Wednesday’s home opener, Brown replied, “We’ll see. We’ll take it one day at a time. But as of now, I feel great.”

“I wasn’t too concerned,” continued the Cal alum. “I didn’t think it was (anything), so I was fine. Just maybe a little tweak, but nothing crazy.”
While inconclusive in terms of a definitive answer regarding his availability against Philly, that it at least appears to be a minor injury that won’t keep Brown out is in itself an excellent outcome given the alternative.
