On weekday mornings, Nevada Sports Net will recap three big headlines of the day in its Morning Download. Read below for today’s topics.
1. Two Wolf Pack alums start season on NBA rosters
The NBA’s regular season begins today with two former Wolf Pack players on rosters. One is Caleb Martin, who enters his seventh season in the league. Martin will start the season with the Dallas Mavericks, which traded for him last season. Martin has played in 311 games while averaging 8.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, shooting 44.7/35.7/73.4. The other Nevada player in the league is Kobe Sanders, a rookie with the Los Angeles Clippers. Sanders averaged 11 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in the preseason, which included a 25-point game in the finale. He is expected to split time between the G League and Clippers this season. One notable omission is Cody Martin, who has played the last six seasons in the NBA but is not on a roster to start this season after being waived by Phoenix in the offseason.
2. Nevada men’s basketball single-game tickets go on sale
Nevada men’s basketball single-game tickets went on sale Monday with the Wolf Pack beginning the season Nov. 4 against Louisiana Tech. Nevada will play 17 home games this year, including seven in non-league play and 10 Mountain West contests. Season tickets also remain on sale. The Wolf Pack hosts Eastern Washington in an exhibition game Saturday at 1 p.m. with tickets starting at $13. The game will not have a livestream.
3. Wolf Pack golf programs both in action
The Nevada men’s and women’s golf teams are both in action with the women third (out of 19 schools) at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Hawaii with Coco Kolbas sixth as an individual after firing a 3-under 69. The Wolf Pack men are ninth (out of 16 schools) after the first round of the Saint Mary’s (Calif.) Invitational. Oak Seelanagae shot a 4-under 68 and is in third place. Both events will total three days and 54 holes.
