EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Michigan State women’s basketball begins its season with an exhibition vs. Michigan Tech on Wednesday, and the team held its annual media day ahead of the season on Tuesday.
The Spartans open the year ranked No. 23 in the AP Top 25, one of six Big Ten teams in the rankings to start the year.
Senior forward Grace VanSlooten and senior guard Abbey Kimball were voted as the Spartans’ team captains.
The Spartans are ranked No. 23 to begin the year.
Head coach Robyn Fralick has led the Spartans to the NCAA Tournament in each of her first two seasons at the helm, and will look to continue that success in year three.
The Spartans return two all-conference players from last season, VanSlooten (second team all-Big Ten) and senior guard Theryn Hallock (honorable mention).
MSU hosts Michigan Tech at the Breslin Center for an exhibition on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The Spartans begin the regular season at home vs. Mercyhurst on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m. Both games will stream on Big Ten Plus.
