The recent knock between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets witnessed a lot. During the game, the Rockets’ key member, Kevin Durant, was seen booing when the Thunder raised their championship banner. Durant’s reaction did not go beyond camera. However after the game he explains the move with sweet gesture.

Referees missed Kevin Durant’s costly call, which occurred in a heated moment in the Rockets-Thunder game. However, the defending champions laughed the last smile and secured the overtime win with 125-124. Shai’s on-court explosiveness with 35 points led the team to get a strong rhythm.

“It’s part of the brand of OKC to boo me when my name gets introduced, but I think it’s all love after that,” Durant explained. “Walking onto the court, at the hotel, walking around town, every time I come here, it’s just so much love and respect. People are always telling me they appreciate my time here. And I feel the same way.”

The game added another chapter to the long and complex equation between Durant and Thunder City. While he now focuses on leading his young core, the connection with his former team remains strong and evergreen.

Durant joined the Rockets this summer, and his contract was ending soon. After a long-term negotiation with the team, the veteran presence signed a new deal for $90 million. He could have asked for $120 million, but gave up $30 million to help the team stay strong with flexibility.

However, former NBA legend Richard Jefferson shared his opinion on this matter. “He’s like, ‘Boys, listen, we in Houston, Texas. We got some young boys. We gonna give y’all some money, and I’mma ride this bad boy out for the next 2-3 years. And y’all got money to go play. Y’all want to go get somebody? I’m not tryna cash all the way in,’”Jefferson said on Road Trippin’.

If Durant brings success to the Rockets’ core, fans and experts believe it could boost his legacy and add another milestone in his elite journey in the league.
