Zach Thompson details his 3PM prop bets for Friday night, including bets for Anfernee Simons, Egor Demin, and Jonathan Kuminga.
Opening week of the NBA regular season continues this Friday with 12 games on the schedule. Matchups are spread out throughout the night, with the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors tipping things off at 6:40 p.m. ET in Toronto and the Phoenix Suns and LA Clippers closing out the day at 10:40 p.m. ET. With 24 teams in action, there are many player props to consider, including one of my favorite ways to attack the slate – three-point props. My top three-point prop bets for Friday regard Anfernee Simons, Egor Demin and Jonathan Kuminga.
Regardless of the final results, cheering for specific players to hit three-pointers is a fun way to enjoy the action, and DraftKings Sportsbook has plenty of player props on the board.
Normally, I try to target a lower 3PM total so they can hit quickly, either early or late, without needing lots of build-up. It’s early in the season, so we don’t have a ton of data yet as to which teams are taking the most threes or allowing the most threes, but we’ll incorporate that data as it becomes available. I also usually play these props in a round robin style, so that even if they don’t all hit, they still carry solid returns.
Breaking down the numbers and matchups, here is why I like these three 3-point props on Friday night.
Top 3-point prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Anfernee Simons over 2.5 3PM (+100)
Simons’ Boston Celtics took a tough one-point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on opening night, and in one of the most intriguing games of the slate, they’ll head to New York on Friday to face the Knicks.
Simons came off the bench in his Boston debut, playing 32 minutes and chipping in 13 points, going 2-for-6 on three-pointers. Last season with the Trail Blazers, he averaged 3.1 3PM per game, but he could get fewer chances with the deeper Celtics, depending on exactly how the usage shakes out.
He does have a good matchup against a Knicks team that gave up 19 made triples in their season-opening win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Boston typically takes a ton of three-pointers, leading the NBA last season with 47.2 deep tries per game. Simons should thrive in the system, and getting him at even money to knock down at least three triples against New York is one of my top 3-point props for Friday night.
Egor Demin over 1.5 3PM (+103)
Demin knocked down four three-pointers in his NBA debut on Wednesday, playing off the bench behind Ben Saraf and Cam Thomas. The 19-year-old from Russia was the No. 8 overall pick in the NBA Draft but was limited this preseason due to a plantar fascia tear.
He was limited to 22 minutes but impressed in his opportunities, scoring 14 points and adding five rebounds, two assists and one steal. Each of his six shots came from beyond the arc, and he canned four of them.
He also hit multiple three-pointers in his only preseason game, scoring 14 points in 19 minutes against the Raptors last week.
Since he didn’t experience any reported injury setbacks, he should be good for at least 22 minutes on Friday night at home against the Cavaliers, and he could play even more as his role expands.
He’s getting enough opportunity to contribute multiple triples, so getting him at plus money to hit just two is another strong 3-point prop to attack on Friday night.
Jonathan Kuminga over 1.5 3PM (+138)
The Warriors have started Kuminga in each of their first two games of the season, and the 23-year-old could carry more of the offense with the team on the second night of a back-to-back. While Steph Curry went off in Thursday’s overtime win, Kuminga had 14 points on six-of-11 shooting but only made one three-pointer.
He hit four three-pointers in Tuesday’s win over the Lakers after averaging just 1.0 made threes in his 47 games in 2024-25. He’s in a larger role this season with more freedom to launch from deep, and with Al Horford expected to rest, he could get even more work on Friday.
The Warriors take on the Trail Blazers in Portland to finish out the back-to-back. Kuminga should be able to hit multiple three-pointers, since it looks like he’s expanding his game to include more shots from distance in the early going this season. Over the last few years, Kuminga has had some huge games when veterans rest, and that could be the case on Friday, making this a nice plus-money play as a 3-point prop in one of the late games.
