The Phoenix Suns (1-1) visit the Denver Nuggets (0-1) tonight at Ball Arena in Denver.
Phoenix opened its season with an impressive 120–116 comeback win over the Sacramento Kings. Trailing by 17 at halftime, the Suns stormed back behind Devin Booker’s 31 points, a resurgent effort on the boards, and improved second-half defense.
They dominated the paint, scoring 64 points inside and winning the rebounding battle 51–37 — critical signs of physicality and effort. Despite shooting just 10-for-34 from three-point range, Phoenix relied on ball movement and interior offense to turn the game around. Grayson Allen chipped in 18 points and seven assists, while Dillon Brooks added 22 points in a balanced team effort.
The Suns’ lone loss exposed their inconsistency from the perimeter and occasional lapses in transition defense. Still, through two games, their rebounding and ability to generate interior scoring have kept them competitive even when outside shots aren’t falling. The challenge tonight will be sustaining that physical edge against a Denver team that can score in bunches.
Denver’s season began with a thriller — a 137–131 overtime loss to the Golden State Warriors. Aaron Gordon delivered a career-high 50 points in the defeat, reminding fans that the Nuggets still possess elite offensive firepower.
The Nuggets shot well and scored efficiently, but their defense faltered late, allowing Golden State to erase an early lead. Nikola Jokic posted a triple-double, but Denver’s supporting cast will need to tighten up defensively to avoid falling into an 0–2 start.
Predictions
Denver’s home-court and superior depth give them an edge, but Phoenix’s firepower keeps it tight.
