An NC State Wolfpack legend is coming home.

The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G-League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, announced it had acquired center D.J. Burns on Saturday. The franchise said Burns joined the Swarm as part of the NBA G League Draft’s undrafted player pool.

A Rock Hill, South Carolina native, Burns was instrumental in the Wolfpack’s improbable run to the 2024 Final Four, earning the South Region’s Most Outstanding Player award and bringing the Wolfpack its first Final Four appearance since the team’s 1983 national championship run.

During his final season, Burns averaged 12.9 points, 4 rebounds, and 2.9 steals per game. Burns was also the 2024 ACC Tournament’s Most Valuable Player and scored 29 points in a comeback performance against the Duke Blue Devils in the Elite Eight.

Burns most recently played for the Goyang Sono Skygunners of the Korean Basketball League. In 54 games, he averaged 9.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 18.7 minutes per game
