The NBA G League held its 2025–26 draft on Saturday, with all 30 NBA affiliates — plus the Mexico City Capitanes — taking part in the two-round event.

South Bay, the Lakers’ affiliate, selected forward Dillon Jones (pictured) with the No. 1 overall pick.

The former Weber State standout was a first-round selection by the Thunder in the 2024 NBA Draft but spent his rookie season playing limited minutes before being traded to Washington and later waived.

Jones, 23, averaged 2.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 10.2 minutes per game last season. His G League rights now belong to South Bay, though any NBA team can still sign him.

With the second pick, the Osceola Magic grabbed Tyler Smith, who was waived by the Bucks last week after narrowly missing out on a roster spot.

Smith, 20, previously played for the now-defunct G League Ignite and was taken No. 33 overall in the 2024 draft.

The Capital City Go-Go (Wizards affiliate) had three of the top six selections, while second-generation players Jamal Mashburn Jr. and Jabri Abdur-Rahim — the son of G League president Shareef Abdur-Rahim — also heard their names called in the opening round.
