It has been a disappointing start thus far for the Phoenix Suns as they have dropped two of their first three games of the season.
Of course, the Suns were expected to struggle at times this season after starting a rebuild in the offseason after trading Kevin Durant and buying out Bradley Beal.

Phoenix has also been without Jalen Green to begin the season as the key piece of the Durant trade to the Houston Rockets has yet to make his Suns debut due to a hamstring injury, leaving Devin Booker to carry the load so far this season.
Because of this, the Suns may be active ahead of the trade deadline to add more young talent around Booker to help with their rebuild and they could have their eyes on a former lottery pick.
Suns Could Target Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga to Help With Rebuild
One player the Suns could target this season is Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga as many around the NBA expect Golden State to listen to offers on him this season despite signing him to a new contract in the offseason.

If that is the case, the Suns may show interest in Kuminga this season after they were reportedly interested in pulling off a trade for him during the offseason.
Mock Trade Lands Suns Jonathan Kuminga From Warriors
In a potential trade, the Suns could send Grayson Allen, Nick Richards and draft capital to the Warriors in exchange for Kuminga.

With the Suns in a rebuild, moving on from Allen seems likely to happen this season, along with Richards who has had a lessened role this year with Phoenix’s improved depth.

Because of this, swapping those two players to acquire Kuminga could work out well for the Suns as they would add another solid young player next to Booker and Green.
Kuminga is a great scorer and a solid defender who would be a solid upgrade to Phoenix’s forward depth.

This season, the 23-year-old forward is averaging 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 55.2% from the field and 50.0% from three over three games.

For the Suns, adding Kuminga to their roster would give them another solid young player to build around for the future, especially with the former lottery pick showing signs of being a potential star in the right situation.

While that may be the case, the Warriors may elect to keep Kuminga on their roster this season if his hot start to the season continues, which could cause the Suns to look elsewhere to add more young talent to their roster.
