Superstar power forward Anthony Davis is playing in his first full season with the Dallas Mavericks after arriving in February. The 32-year-old superstar will be expected to shoulder the bulk of the scoring load along with providing elite rim protection on the defensive end. Davis is off to a strong start throughout his first four games this year, averaging 25.0 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 52.1 percent from the field.
Although Davis has shined, the Mavericks are off to a slow start, sitting with a 1–3 record on Tuesday. Regardless, Davis will look to lead a younger roster and keep the Mavericks competitive, with hopes that point guard Kyrie Irving can return after the All-Star break.

As the Mavericks prepare for their fifth game of the year against the Indiana Pacers, the team announced that Davis had been added to the official injury report for the first time in the 2025-26 season.
His status for the upcoming matchup is listed as probable with bilateral Achilles tendinopathy. Mike Curtis of the Dallas Morning News confirmed the development on Tuesday.
“Mavs star Anthony Davis is probable for tomorrow’s game vs. the Pacers due to bilateral Achilles tendinopathy,” he reported on X.

Although his health has been a concern throughout the entirety of his 14-year career, this injury along with the designation likely does not indicate a serious concern. During his tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, Davis had been listed with the same injury status for multiple games with an attempt to give the big man more rest throughout the 82-game season.
Davis played in just nine games for Dallas after being traded from the Lakers, and his availability remains crucial, especially with Kyrie Irving sidelined. When healthy, Davis’ impact on the court is undeniable. He’s a 10-time All-Star, five-time All-NBA selection, five-time All-Defensive team member and has led the league in blocks three times (2014, 2015, 2018). He also helped lead Los Angeles to a championship in 2020. If the Mavericks choose to hold out Davis for Wednesday’s game, his next chance to suit up would be on Saturday against the Detroit Pistons.
