Bryan Armetta shares his three favorite player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Wednesday’s ten-game slate.
Ten games between 20 different teams are set for tip-off across the NBA tonight. In short, the options are endless for basketball bettors. Still, there’s plenty of pitfalls on the path towards profit. Which player props should you back (or fade) during Wednesday’s jam-packed slate of hoops action?
Here are three of the top prop bet picks on DraftKings Sportsbook for today’s NBA action.
Top NBA prop bet picks
Evan Mobley 13+ assists + rebounds (-126)
Donovan Mitchell is Cleveland’s best player, but Evan Mobley isn’t too far behind. The 24-year-old continues to progress on offense while providing elite rim protection. Through four games, he’s averaging 18.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists while shooting 43.4%. Those numbers, while solid, aren’t even scratching the surface of the All-Star’s potential. Wednesday’s primetime showdown vs. Boston could provide the perfect opportunity for Mobley to dominate.
The Celtics underwent major changes this offseason. Down low, Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford no longer wear green. Superstar Jayson Tatum is continuing to recover from last season’s Achilles tear. That leaves Boston with a rag-tag group of players in the front court. Unsurprisingly, the team has allowed the sixth-most rebounds per game to opponents this season (64.8). Mobley has reached 13 assists + rebounds in three of his four outings thus far. Point guard Darius Garland’s continued absence has given the big man more chances to dish out passes, as well. There’s no reason to think the power forward won’t thrive tonight vs. the short-handed C’s.
Cade Cunningham under 39.5 points + rebounds + assists (-121)
The Pistons will only go as far as Cade Cunningham takes them this season. Fortunately for Detroit, the sky is the limit for the fifth-year pro. Last season was something of a breakout for the former number one overall pick. He’s carried that over into this season, leading the team in points (20.3) and assists (7.8) per game. However, Cunningham has been mediocre in terms of efficiency (36.1 FG%).
I’d expect Cade to bounce back on offense sooner rather than later. Unfortunately for him, it might not happen on Wednesday. The Pistons will host Orlando, one of the NBA’s stingiest defenses. Over ten career meetings with the Magic, Cunningham has reached 40 P+R+A only once. During those matchups, the guard has averaged only 16.8 points on dismal 38.5% shooting. If Detroit’s leading man entered this contest on a hot streak, I’d have more reason to support him tonight. However, in the midst of a shooting slump, he’s an obvious fade candidate.
Jamal Murray 4+ rebounds (-137)
A busy offseason has made the Nuggets deeper and more versatile. Still, this roster remains a two-man show between Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. The latter of the two doesn’t generate many headlines, but he’s arguably the NBA’s most underrated player. Over three games this season, he’s delivered a team-leading 30.3 points in addition to 6.0 assists. That level of scoring prowess and savvy passing makes the Canadian a difficult assignment for anyone.
With that being said, don’t sleep on Murray’s rebounding skills. The guard has chipped in with 5.0 boards so far, second on the roster only to Jokic. Wednesday’s matchup could lead to even more success on the glass. The Pelicans have allowed a whopping 77.3 rebounds per game to opponents, the worst mark in basketball. It’s a continuation from last season, in which the team was ranked fourth-worst in this category. Zion Williamson (foot) is questionable tonight, which would make New Orleans’ front court even weaker. At just four boards, this modest total is too difficult to ignore.
