The New Orleans Pelicans are on the road on Wednesday night as they travel to take on the Denver Nuggets in a Western Conference matchup.

It has been a rough start to the season thus far for the Pelicans as they have dropped their first three games of the season and are coming off a loss to the Boston Celtics on Monday night.

In Monday’s loss to Boston, Jordan Poole led the way for New Orleans as he finished the game with 22 points, two rebounds and four assists while Yves Missi added 11 points and seven rebounds of his own.

Now the Pelicans will have a tough road matchup against the Nuggets on Wednesday night as they try to grab their first win of the new season.

On the other side, the Nuggets enter Wednesday’s game with a 2-1 record and they are coming off a victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road on Monday night.

Jamal Murray led the way for the Nuggets in Monday’s victory as he ended the game with 43 points and six rebounds while Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double with 25 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists.

While both teams are looking for a key early-season victory in Wednesday’s matchup, both squads may be without some of their key players due to injuries.

Pelicans Injury Report, Will Zion Williamson Play?

For New Orleans, they have three players listed on their injury report for Wednesday’s game, including star forward Zion Williamson.

If Williamson is sidelined against the Nuggets, it would be a massive blow to the Pelicans and Saddiq Bey and Derik Queen could have an increased role.

New Orleans has also ruled out Dejounte Murray for Wednesday’s contest as he continues to recover from a torn Achilles while Kevon Looney will be sidelined due to a left knee sprain.

Nuggets Injury Report, Will Cameron Johnson Play?

On the other side, the Nuggets have only one player on their injury report for Wednesday’s game as they have listed Cameron Johnson as questionable.

Johnson is listed as questionable due to right shoulder inflammation that caused him to exit Monday’s victory over the Timberwolves early in the fourth quarter and he is in danger of missing his first game of the season.

If Johnson is sidelined, Peyton Watson could be in line to fill his spot in the starting lineup and have a larger role for the Nuggets with Jokic, Murray and Aaron Gordon leading the way.
