Ja Morant is no stranger to suspensions, and his latest ban leaves the Memphis Grizzlies short-handed as they take on the Toronto Raptors tonight at Scotiabank Arena.

Morant was outspoken after Memphis’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, and my Grizzlies vs Raptors predictions expect Toronto to cash in on his absence, with Brandon Ingram pacing the offense.

Grizzlies vs Raptors prediction

Grizzlies vs Raptors best bet: Brandon Ingram Over 19.5 points (-120)

The Toronto Raptors are counting on Brandon Ingram to recapture his best form this season, and the early signs have been promising. While Toronto’s defense has been woeful for most of the first two weeks, the offense is pouring in a steady 119.8 points per game, 10th in the NBA.

Ingram is a big reason for that. He’s averaging 21.7 PPG while shooting 53% from the field, and I’m jumping on the Over tonight, with the line sitting at a generous 19.5.

BI has gone past that number in four of his last five outings, including a 29-point effort against the Houston Rockets’ feisty defense, where he made 11 of 16 shots, and the hosts seem to be working through any concerns about sharing the touches between Ingram, Scottie Barnes, and R.J. Barrett.

The Memphis Grizzlies are giving up 122 PPG, almost as bad as the Raptors, and Ingram should get to his favorite mid-range spots against any of their wings. He’s also knocking down his 3-pointers at a 40% clip so far.

Ja Morant is often a defensive liability, so his absence may not hurt as much on that end of the floor, but I still see Toronto putting up a big score, with Ingram leading the charge.

Grizzlies vs Raptors same-game parlay

The Raptors snapped a four-game skid with a much-needed win in Cleveland on Friday, and I see that carrying over tonight against the depleted Grizzlies. Memphis is 1-4 ATS in its past five contests, so I’ll lay the points with a Toronto team that looked better defensively last time out.

The Grizzlies have Morant, Scottie Pippen Jr., and Ty Jerome on the injury report, so they’ll be desperate for any playmaking they can get from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Jaren Jackson Jr.

KCP has dished 4+ assists in each of his last five games, and he’ll have to run the offense at times here.

Our “from downtown” SGP: KCP fills the void

KCP has gone past this number in three of his last four games, and he made two of his four 3-pointers in Friday’s loss. The Grizzlies are trying to replace a lot of offense tonight, and Caldwell-Pope should be one of the beneficiaries.
