Kentucky basketball starts their 2025-2026 regular season tomorrow night against the Nicholls Colonels.
Despite splitting their preseason exhibition games with a win over No. 1 Purdue and a loss to unranked Georgetown, the Wildcats are overwhelming favorites to win their season opener on Tuesday night.
According to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index, head coach Mark Pope and his team have a 97.4% chance of winning, and that’s even with their backcourt battling through some nagging injuries.
Later on in the week, Kentucky will also host Valparaiso on Friday night for their second game of the season.
The Wildcats are favored even more in that matchup, with ESPN’s Basketball Power Index giving Kentucky a 98.2% chance to win the game and also likely start the season 2-0.
Both of these games will give Kentucky more “real” reps together on the court before traveling to No. 11 Louisville next Tuesday for their first major showdown of the season.
Tomorrow’s game with Nicholls is scheduled to tip at 7 PM ET with coverage on SEC Network PLUS and Friday’s game is also scheduled for 7 PM ET with coverage on SEC Network PLUS.
How about that front four on Saturday night?
Can’t wait for this one.
Huge game from the former Wildcat.
Can they make it two in a row?
