At long last, the new college basketball season is here.

Florida State men’s hoops opens the season on its home floor on Tuesday night against Alcorn State as the Luke Loucks era officially begins. Loucks took over for Leonard Hamilton at the end of the 2024-25 season after Hamilton roamed the FSU sidelines for 23 seasons. Loucks, who played under Coach Hamilton at Florida State, overhauled the roster and retained only two players from last year’s team (AJ Swinton and Alier Maluk), as he attempts to implement his vision in one offseason.

There is plenty of optimism in Tallahassee for what the Loucks era could bring, especially after FSU scored over 100 points in an exhibition game against Alabama a few weeks ago. While outside expectations are lower, as Florida State was picked to finish 15th out of 18 schools in the ACC preseason media poll, Loucks assembled a roster filled with speed and shooters to give the FSU program a much-needed shot in the arm.

Today’s game tips off at 7:00 PM from the Donald L. Tucker Center and can be found on ACCNX.

Normally, this section will be for the opposing team, but with so many new faces on the FSU roster, it makes sense to highlight a few first-year Seminoles.
