CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A new era begins Tuesday when first-year coach Sean Miller brings the Texas men’s basketball program into the Spectrum Center to face No. 6 Duke. Considering the Blue Devils’ home gym of Cameron Indoor Stadium is only about 150 miles away in Durham, N.C., the home of the NBA’s Hornets will be a neutral court only by technicality.

Texas enters the game as a 10-point underdog to a loaded Duke team. Unlike most squads in the power conferences, Duke didn’t rely on the portal to fill any roster gaps while welcoming back core players in guards Isaiah Evans and Evan Foster as well as forwards Maliq Brown and Patrick Ngongba II. The Blue Devils also boast the nation’s top recruiting class headlined by five-star forward Cameron Boozer.

Texas will counter with three returning guards expected to play heavy minutes in Tramon Mark, Jordan Pope and Chendall Weaver. In addition, Miller brought in transfers in wing Dailyn Swain (Xavier), forward Lassina Traore (Xavier), guard Simeon Wilcher (St. John’s), forward Camden Heide (Purdue) and post Matas Vokietaitis (Florida Atlantic).
