After missing Steph Curry (illness), Jimmy Butler (back) and Draymond Green (ribs) in their loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors are set to be without their star point guard again to open NBA Cup group play on Friday against the Denver Nuggets.

After not traveling to Sacramento due to his illness, the Warriors ruled Curry out for Friday’s contest against the Nuggets. According to Anthony Slater of ESPN, Curry’s symptoms worsened on Wednesday.

Along with Curry, Butler (questionable) and Green (probable) were also included on the injury report.

Without Curry, Brandin Podziemski and rookie Will Richard started in the backcourt on Wednesday night in Sacramento. Richard led the Warriors with a game-high 30 points in Golden State’s 121-116 loss.

Curry caught fire in his first meeting against the Nuggets in the second game of the 2025-26 campaign. Curry tallied 42 points on 14-of-25 shooting with seven assists and six boards. Curry also notched six made 3-pointers in the Warriors’ 137-131 win over Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.

The Warriors will meet the Nuggets on Friday at 7 p.m. PT in Denver.
