OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Thunder is kicking off its 18th annual Holiday Assist tradition, teaming up with Homeland, Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages and the Thunder Community Foundation to provide hundreds of meal kits and holiday support for Oklahoma families in need.

The kits, distributed through the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, Tinker Food Pantry, Diversion Hub and the United Way of Central Oklahoma, are part of a larger effort addressing food insecurity across the state.

“We’re honored to stand alongside our partners in supporting families across Oklahoma,” said Erin Oldfield, Thunder vice president of community engagement. “As we activate our 18th annual Holiday Assist tradition, we’re reminded that community connection has been at the core of our mission since our team’s inception in 2008.”

Throughout November and December, players and staff will participate in nearly three dozen community events, including serving meals at City Rescue Mission, hosting carnivals with Boys and Girls Clubs and shopping sprees with Sunbeam Family Services and the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program. The team will also continue its “12 Days of Giving,” surprising 12 local nonprofits with $1,000 worth of donated goods and supplies.
