The Boston Celtics title defense has ended at the hands of the New York Knicks in Game 6 of the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals second round series. Losing big to the Knicks to the tune of 119-81, it was clear that whatever magic Boston had found to keep their season alive in Game 5 after losing star forward Jayson Tatum to a torn Achilles tendon in Game 4 had left the team as a whole.
Jaylen Brown could not pass the ball to himself a game after logging a career-high dozen assists, and despite that, he was more or less the only player scoring the ball in the part of the game where the Celtics had a chance. By the time halftime rolled around, the game was pretty much decided, and instead of a earnest try in the second half, Boston was clearly on their flights to Cabo and Cancun mentally.
