The Cleveland Cavaliers (5-3) travel to face the Washington Wizards (1-7) tonight at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
Cleveland enters on the heels of its most impressive performance of the season, a 132–121 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. Donovan Mitchell was dominant, scoring 46 points on 15-of-21 shooting and 6-of-11 from three. Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley added 24 and 23 points, respectively, while Darius Garland made his season debut with 8 points in 26 minutes.
Philadelphia was without Joel Embiid, but the Sixers remain competitive even in his absence, with multiple scoring options including Tyrese Maxey, Quentin Grimes, and rookie VJ Edgecombe.
Washington comes in having lost six straight, most by convincing double-digit margins. The Wizards have the league’s second-worst defensive rating, and their early-season pace-driven scoring has fallen off — they now sit bottom five in points per game (111.9).
Alex Sarr (19.0 PPG) and Kyshawn George (16.8 PPG) have been the primary offensive bright spots. Sarr posted 31 points in Wednesday’s 136–107 loss to the Boston Celtics.
Prediction
Cleveland’s efficiency and interior scoring should overwhelm a Washington team struggling to defend and generate consistent offense.
Prediction: Cavaliers 120, Wizards 104
