The Los Angeles Lakers (7-2) travel to face the Atlanta Hawks (4-5) tonight at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
The Lakers enter on a five-game winning streak despite continued injury issues. Austin Reaves remains out, taking away the team’s second-leading scorer. Even so, others have stepped up alongside Luka Doncic, who scored 35 points in Wednesday’s 118–116 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
Deandre Ayton added 22 points — his second straight 20-plus-point performance — and Marcus Smart chipped in 17.
Atlanta is 3–2 since Trae Young went down with an MCL injury on October 29. The Hawks are coming off a 109–97 loss to the surging Toronto Raptors, where the starters were productive — four players scored 16 or more — but the bench contributed just 16 total points. Atlanta shot only 34.4% from the field in the loss.
For tonight, the Hawks will be without Kristaps Porzingis, who has struggled on defense but has boosted their offense — when he’s on the court. Nickeil Alexander-Walker — their most consistent scorer of late — is a game-time decision, as is Jalen Johnson. As they say, when it rains, it pours.
Prediction
The Lakers have the edge here, but the margin will widen if Alexander-Walker and Johnson are out.
Prediction: Lakers 123, Hawks 108
