On Friday night, the Golden State Warriors visited the Denver Nuggets. They were playing without Steph Curry, and, as a result, they lost 129-104. It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t fun, and it wasn’t particularly interesting.

But it’s always interesting to see how fans felt about the action as it unfolded. So here’s a look at the fan reactions in real time, as seen through the Golden State of Mind game thread.

First quarter: ‘A colossal first half beatdown’

It was not a good start to the game. The Warriors were quickly down double-digits, and trailed 32-21 after the first quarter.

Snakes In The Lane

This has all the makings of a colossal first half beatdown and our OGs folding the tent early.

This is what happens when nobody can shoot reliably.

Steph offense with no Steph…… Kerr has to do better

Second quarter: ‘Just jackin threes’

The second quarter started great, and then the Warriors promptly fell apart again, as the Nuggets took it to them. It was a 66-49 deficit at halftime.

Man, with and without Joker this Nuggets team is completely different.

WTF is Hield doing

Syphon23

Ah. I can turn this one off early and not waste my Nite.

If curry is the most impactful unique player in the nba why do you think you can have the same gameplan when he is out!? It’s so stupid!

Third quarter: ‘JK going back to earth’

There was better energy in the third quarter, but not better results. They trailed by a game-high 22 points going into the final fram.

Again.. JK with the yips.. His drives are never in control, just barreling in hoping the seas will part… and then the desperation pass that’s off line.

I’m so not a fan.

Fourth quarter: ‘That was ugly’

Steve Kerr waved the white flag early in the fourth, as the Nuggets coasted to a blowout win.

Dubs are hitting 33.3% 3PT. Denver’s hitting 51.7% 3PT. Yeesh, how’s that for a spread?

That was ugly. Sure, Steph’s out, Butler’s back hurts, Melton and Curry are on their way but . . .

Green and Butler played decent games. Green tried directing the game on the floor and made some threes. Post shot 6/6 and didn’t have a turn over. Richard had a decent game.

JK and Moody and Podz sucked. They went 7/29 combined. Podz, to his credit, at least tried (but failed) to find gaps in the Denver defense.

The Dubs overall game plan didn’t look too bad but, wow, our guys made it easy for Denver. I kept thinking: Denver watched a lot of film and the Dubs didn’t bother. Denver knew the quirks of our bench players and the Dubs seemed surprised every other play. Denver was well prepared, both in their game plan and individual adaptions. Denver’s screens led to specific favorable match-ups, good positioning, and Dubs confusion. Our guys showed a little prep work by leaving (usually) bad shooters open, etc. but Denver was always a play ahead on both sides of the court. Those Spencer drives to the basket were ugly but, alas, with his teammates out of position, or standing around, maybe half of his drives were his only decent option.

Not a great game. Maybe the Dubs need to (as possible) tighten the rotation, spend more time watching film, and get Kuminga and Moody firmware upgrades.
