What impact is Ron Holland making for Detroit Pistons?
Free Press Sports columnist Shawn Windsor break down the influence Ron Holland is making on the Detroit Pistons.
Malik Beasley isn’t on the Detroit Pistons’ roster this season, but that hasn’t stopped him from supporting his former teammates.
Beasley was reportedly in line to sign a contract worth $42 million this offseason before he was engulfed in a gambling scandal surrounding allegedly suspicious prop bets made on his play when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks.
That has left him in limbo and without a roster spot as the NBA season is well underway and investigations into him – from the NBA and the government – continue.
But it hasn’t stopped him from posting about his former team.
“@detroitpistons first in east and nobody talking bout it is crazy .. nothing new,” Beasley posted on an Instagram story.
That was after Beasley declared that the only NBA team that he’d play for this season would be the Pistons and has posted almost daily from his workouts at University of Detroit Mercy’s gym.
“If I do go back to the NBA, it’s gonna be with the Pistons,” Beasley said in a social media video. “I haven’t signed anything yet, but I have my strongest ties there. I had my best season there last year, and hopefully I can fit back in with the team.”
On Thursday, the Pistons claimed big man Isaac Jones off waivers, filling the final roster spot that some speculated the team was holding open for Beasley.
