Former Houston Rockets player Reggie Bullock is turning his private island in Belize, “Bullock Island,” into a resort.

Bullock is a 12-year NBA veteran who has also played for the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks.

Bullock said he purchased the island in Placencia, Belize in 2022 for $2.2 million before adding a four-bedroom mansion with a pool, movie theater and six vacation villas.

His favorite thing about the island is its heart shape, which represents one of his twin boys, Heart, he told the Houston Chronicle.

“I was building it as my dream home but got caught up in the tourism industry and made it a flip,” Bullock said. “My favorite thing is the heart shape of the island. One of my twin boys’ names is Heart and the other is Soul.”

Bullock Island features a mansion, pool, one- to two-bedroom villas and five oceanfront one-bedroom villas that can be booked on the Bullock Island website.

Amenities include an ocean-view pool, on-site restaurant and beach bar, wellness and fitness facilities, daily housekeeping and shuttle service to and from nearby ports and attractions.

Bullock said the idea came from former Mavericks teammate Dennis Smith Jr., who told him about the private island market, in a video by YouTuber Will Mitchell, a Belize-based content creator.
