The Boston Celtics started their 2025-26 NBA regular season struggling from beyond the arc. And for a ball club that relies so heavily on the trey, that has been a bit of a disaster for the Celtics, with the team currently owning a sub-.500 record an eighth of the way through their current campaign.

But in Boston’s 131-95 blowout of the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday (Nov. 12) night at TD Garden, the Celtics were hitting 41.2% of their shots from deep, giving credence to claims from head coach Joe Mazzulla that Boston was getting plenty of good looks, and just not making them. After the win, backup big man Luka Garza weighed in on what looks like the end of the Celtics’ early-season shooting slump. “I think regardless of the result, you’ve just got to keep producing the good ones,” said Garza. “I think we did a great job of that last night.”

“Like Joe (Joe Mazzulla) said, every time down, we were getting the shots we wanted, they just weren’t going down,” continued the Celtics center.

“You’ve just got to keep fighting to create those looks every time,” he added. I mean, with the shooters that we have—the level of shooters that we have—you just want to get those shots up as often as you can.”

“Because they’re going to go down, and law of averages always says that. So it was good, especially at home, to get those shots going early. I think that gave us a lot of energy and boosted us throughout the game, but you’ve got to be able to find a way even when those shots aren’t going down.”
