In conjunction with training camp for the start of the 2025 WNBA season, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has spent part of her offseason serving as a key supporter for the Indiana Pacers (and her good friend Tyrese Haliburton).
Perhaps Clark has been the good luck charm: Indiana upset the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in five games to advance to their second consecutive Eastern Conference Finals despite Donovan Mitchell’s heroics. After Indiana’s blowout victory over Cleveland in Game 4, Clark called into the ‘Pacers Overtime’ radio show on 93.5/107.5 The Fan with host Eddie White and Pacers co-owner Stephen Simon to talk hoops.
The always-bombastic White introduced the Fever star with a new nickname: “Caitlin from downtown.” The nickname is well-earned, as Clark led the WNBA in three-pointers last season.

Most radio hosts also introduce new guests as “LeBron from Akron” or “Luka from Slovenia,” mentioning both the caller’s first name and the place the call is made.
Clark, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year then proceeded to give insight on a game the Pacers won 129-104 where they led 80-49 at halftime.
“The first half was probably the best offensive half I have ever seen in all of basketball, it was fun,” Clark told the show. “I felt honestly just bad for the Cavs at one point.”

She was asked if she’s ever been part of a half like that. “Never scored 80 in a half,” Clark replied. “We’d be lucky to hit 60. So, 80 and a game is pretty good for the most part. But 80 in a half — I was on my feet for that entire second quarter. It was pretty fun.”
Indiana closed out the series on Tuesday night with a gritty 114-105 victory on the road, where they trailed by as many as 19. Haliburton once again led the way for the Pacers, scoring 31 points in the win.
“We’re different than every other team in the NBA,” Haliburton said postgame. “We don’t just have one guy who scores all the points, I think we defeat teams in different ways.”

Clark and the Fever start their 2025 season by traveling to play the Chicago Sky at the United Center. The game will be featured on ABC, a staple for any Clark-Angel Reese contest indefinitely.
Clark will look to improve upon her fourth-place showing in the 2024 season, and an improved supporting cast should help boost her regular-season number.
