Suns-Pacers game goes Boomer on local television broadcast

Local television viewers were stunned when Thursday night’s Phoenix Suns game went boom — or, to be more accurate, Boomer.

Around 9:10 p.m., during the second half of what was shaping up to be a blowout win for Phoenix over the Indiana Pacers, the broadcast on Arizona’s Family (3TV) abruptly switched to “Game Time with Boomer Esiason,” a sports-talk show featuring the former NFL quarterback.

It didn’t take long for viewers to start reacting on the social media platform X

Did anyone else’s Suns game on Arizona family completely turn off?

Crazy performance by the Suns tonight. I’d have to say the most unexpected part was probably the Cale Makar interview with Boomer Esiason in the 4th.

There was at least one explanation.

The game eventually returned as the Suns continued to build a lead, winning in a rout, 133-98 for their fifth straight win.
