The Golden State Warriors (7-6) travel to face the San Antonio Spurs (8-3) tonight at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
This is the second meeting between the teams this week. Golden State won Wednesday’s matchup 125–120 behind a vintage Stephen Curry performance. Curry erupted for 46 points on 13-of-25 shooting and went 15-of-16 from the free-throw line, repeatedly generating contact to keep the Warriors afloat. It was a critical win for Golden State, which has gone 5-5 in its last 10, as the team has been hit with injuries and inconsistent production from its supporting cast. Those struggles led to veteran Draymond Green to publicly suggest the current roster lacks the same drive as their championship predecessors.
San Antonio opened strong, leading 28–14 after the first quarter, but the Warriors chipped away until a Curry three midway through the third gave them their first lead since early in the game. The loss marked the Spurs’ first home defeat of the season.
Victor Wembanyama delivered a monster triple-double — 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. And the Spurs actually outshot the Warriors 49% to 42%.
But Golden State’s edge at the free-throw line and from three-point range proved decisive, with the veteran core dictating pace and making timely shots to erase the deficit in bunches.
De’Aaron Fox struggled in the loss, finishing with 13 points on 35.7% shooting after averaging 22.5 points in his first two games back from injury.
Prediction
Given San Antonio’s strong home record, overall defensive efficiency, and deeper rotation, the Spurs are positioned to respond tonight.
