The accolades keep piling on for Sam Presti. After being announced as a member of the 2025 class this past May, he was finally inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
The Oklahoma Hall of Fame opened in 1928. To be eligible, someone must reside in the state, perform outstanding services to humanity or be known for their public service throughout the state. Anybody who follows a lick of basketball should know who Presti is and what he’s accomplished.
Of course, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the most successful NBA franchises since they relocated in 2008. Presti was named the general manager in 2007. Nearly two decades later, he’s helped build up two title contenders, three MVP winners and finally an NBA championship this past season.
One of the longest-tenured GMs, Presti is viewed as one of the top minds of his profession. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook enjoyed some of their best individual and team success when they were in OKC. He’s done it again with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren.
The Thunder had one of the greatest seasons ever last year. They were a historic 68-14 and brought home the Larry O’Brien trophy. Still early to say, but it looks like they’ll be a win machine again. There’s a reason why most folks have them penciled in as a rare back-to-back winner.
It shouldn’t be a shocker to see Presti given this prestigious honor. His approval rate is the highest among the NBA front office decision-makers. And he has the accolades and wins to back it up.
