Cade Cunningham on Pistons start: ‘We’re where we’re supposed to be’

The Detroit Pistons on Monday, Nov. 10, re-signed wing Wendell Moore Jr. to a two-way contract, marking a reunion more than a year after he initially joined the team.

The Pistons first acquired Moore, the 26th pick of the 2022 draft, in a trade along with the 37th overall pick in 2024. Moore, a 6-foot-6 Duke alumnus, was a member of the Pistons’ 15-man roster and appeared in 20 games, averaging 3.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists, before he was waived in February to clear roster space for Dennis Schröder and Lindy Waters III

“His skillset, his personality, his willingness to work,” Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff said during his pregame press conference Monday, before playing the Washington Wizards at Little Caesars Arena. “Again, he was a guy that we felt could help us. We just ran out of minutes. When all this stuff happened, it was a great opportunity to get him back and he knows the system, he’s familiar with what we do, and hopefully if needed, he can go out and contribute.”

With Moore, 24, on a two-way contract, the Pistons waived two-way guard Colby Jones.

They’re off to their best start since the 2005-06 season, leading the East with an 8-2 record on a six-game winning streak.
