The Anthony Davis rumor mill is picking up speed, and some outlets have already started tossing some random logs on the fire.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report floated a hypothetical deal that would send the former MVP runner-up to Detroit, giving the Pistons a star-powered core while allowing Dallas to hit the reset button after firing general manager Nico Harrison.
The proposed framework:
Pistons receive:
• Anthony Davis
Mavericks receive:
• Tobias Harris
• Isaiah Stewart
• Jaden Ivey
• 2026 first-round pick
• 2028 first-round pick
• 2027 second-round pick (via Bucks)
• 2031 second-round pick (Dallas)
The idea fits the league-wide expectation that Dallas will explore Davis trades now that Harrison is out.
And on Detroit’s side, the pitch is obvious: pair Davis with Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren and suddenly the Pistons a lot more like a true, blue contender.
Davis has played only 14 games for Dallas since last season’s blockbuster Luka Doncic trade.
He’s been productive when available, averaging 20.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and nearly two blocks per game as a Maverick. But health remains the headline.
A left calf strain has limited him to five games this fall, and it’s unclear when he’ll return.
For the season, Davis is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals while shooting 52 percent from the field.
He turns 33 in March, is making $54.1 million this year, and carries salaries of $58.5 million next season and a $62.8 million player option for 2027–28.
Dallas is expected to work closely with Davis’ camp — led by agent Rich Paul — as it weighs in-season options.
A trade would mark the latest chapter in a career that’s already included stops with the Pelicans, Lakers and now Mavericks, plus a résumé that places him firmly in the NBA’s top 75 all-time.
Whether Detroit is the team that finally pushes its chips in remains to be seen. But the noise around Davis is only getting louder.
