The Memphis Grizzlies are signing rookie guard Jahmai Mashack to a two-way contract, the team announced on Nov. 16.

Center PJ Hall will be waived in a corresponding move.

The 6-foot-4 Mashack was selected 59th overall by the Grizzlies in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Tennessee. After a promising summer league performance, he wasn’t signed to a two-way contract. The Grizzlies had depth issues in the frontcourt.

Mashack started the season with the Memphis Hustle in the G League. He is averaging 7.6 points, 5.4 assists and 3.4 steals through five games.

With Zach Edey back at center and all four Grizzlies point guards nursing injuries, Memphis now is in need of guard depth.

Guards Ty Jerome (calf), Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe) and Javon Small (toe) have all missed time recently with injuries. Ja Morant left a Nov. 15 loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first quarter due to calf soreness.

Mashack played four seasons at Tennessee, where he became an elite defender and team captain. He started 38 games as a senior, averaging 6.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. He was named to the SEC’s All-Defensive team as a senior.
