The Phoenix Suns (8-6) visit the Portland Trail Blazers (6-7) tonight at the Moda Center in Portland.
Phoenix enters the matchup after a narrow two-point loss to the Atlanta Hawks that snapped their five-game winning streak. The Suns collapsed late despite leading by 22, but their top scorers were electric — Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks combined for 61 points.
Booker (28.4 PPG), Brooks (22.0 PPG), and Grayson Allen (18.5 PPG) form one of the league’s most productive scoring trios, though the group would be even more dynamic if Jalen Green hadn’t gone down with a hamstring injury in just his second game with the team. Green will be reevaluated next month. Allen will be out for tonight’s game.
Portland, meanwhile, has dropped four of its last five after starting the year 5-3 with eye-catching wins over the Denver Nuggets and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Blazers boast a top-six offense at 121.5 points per game, powered by a balanced attack featuring Deni Avdija (26.0 PPG), Shaedon Sharpe (22.1 PPG), Jerami Grant (18.3 PPG), and Jrue Holiday (16.7 PPG). But they’ll be shorthanded tonight with Holiday sidelined by a calf injury and Grant questionable.
Their defense has also cratered during this recent slide, giving up nearly 130 points per game over their past five.
Prediction
Expect a close one, but Portland’s firepower at home, even with a depleted backcourt, should be enough to outpace the Suns.
Prediction: Trail Blazers 120, Suns 115
