The Chicago Bulls head to Portland looking to start a win streak against the injury-riddled Trail Blazers.
The Chicago Bulls head to Portland to face off against Deni Avdija and the gritty Portland Trail Blazers. The Bulls are looking to recreate another win streak, while the Blazers look to end their three-game losing streak. Both rosters will have their work cut out for them, as they are teams that utilize their bench.
Bulls at Trail Blazers Preview
The Chicago Bulls have faced several challenges early in the season, particularly because many of the teams they’ve faced are built around a singular star player. From Giannis Antetokounmpo to Nikola Jokic, it’s clear that the Bulls have had their work cut out for them. However, the Portland Trail Blazers present a different kind of challenge, as they are constructed in a way that resembles the Bulls. At any moment, any of their players could score 20 points. Although the Blazers focus on their defensive identity, the Bulls actually have a higher defensive net rating, currently ranked 19th compared to the Blazers at 22nd. That said, the Bulls should not take this matchup lightly.
The marquee matchup features two candidates for the Most Improved Player of the Year award: Josh Giddey and Deni Avdija. Both players were traded to their current teams and now play crucial roles for their rosters. While Avdija is the more proficient scorer, Giddey is the more complete player, demonstrating excellent court vision and tenacity in rebounding. Recently, it has become evident that Giddey needs to regain his three-point shooting touch, as he has been shooting just 16.7% from beyond the arc over the past three games.
